Alexander Wang declines to comment on accusations of sexual misconduct by several anonymous victims, WWD reports.
Stories of the New York designer drugging and harassing or sexually assaulting male and trans models were first posted by industry watch Instagram account @ShitModelMgmt. “Instead of letting these events be swept under the rug, it’s time to do something about it,” @ShitModelMgmt wrote in a caption.
The post came after model Owen Mooney posted a TikTok alleging that a “really famous fashion designer” groped him at a club in 2017. “I couldn’t believe he was doing this to me,” he said. Mooney said. He later confirmed that the anonymous man he was referring to was Wang.
At least eight other anonymous people contacted @ShitModelMgmt, also accusing Wang of sexual predation. Three of them shared similar stories claiming that Wang gave them bottled water they didn’t know contained MDMA.
The Model Alliance, a political organization for people working in the fashion industry, posted a statement of support for victims on Instagram. “The fashion industry’s lack of transparency and accountability leaves all models vulnerable to abuse, regardless of their gender or gender identity,” it read.
This is not the first time that Wang has been accused of violent behavior. Last year, rapper Azealia Banks took to Instagram to highlight cases of suspected abuse. “Alexander Wang sexually assaults trans women and must be shot,” a screenshot of an anonymous direct message from Banks and read.
A representative for Wang did not return The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
