Australian journalists working for ABC Tasmania were angered when senior officials advised them to stop using the word “pedophile” to refer to an accused serial child molester, as this could discourage other pedophiles from asking for more. ugly.
“Oh, will no one think of the poor pedophiles!”
A senior network producer informed employees that the Sexual Assault Support Service (SASS) had “raised concerns” about former nurse James Geoffrey Griffin’s description of a pedophile.
Griffin, who later committed suicide, was accused by many women of sexually assaulting them as children, and police later discovered “a significant amount of child exploitation material” during the incident. ‘a search of his home.
“We should avoid [the term pedophile], unless we know he had a clinical diagnosis of pedophilia and instead used a serial sex offender / predator, or child and youth sex offender, ”the producer wrote in one email.
The letter also quoted the SASS as informing that there are many “people with pedophilia” who “do not act on these impulses”, if they “seek and receive professional psychological help”.
The producer claimed that labeling Griffin a pedophile “may discourage” non-offending pedophiles “from seeking help, making them more likely to continue to abuse children.”
Journalists were apparently “worried and angered” by the email and were later told by the network that the word “pedophile” had not been banned but that SASS advice should be heeded.
Some respondents saw this as yet another example of how society is becoming increasingly tolerant of pedophilia, which some on the far left have attempted to redefine as an alternative sexual orientation.
“Yes, of course, let’s not hurt the feelings of pedophiles,” one remarked.
“This is what happens to empires / societies that live too long and do not face enough adversity or threats to its existence,” added another. “They get weird and can’t even call a spade a spade.”
Controversy erupted last summer when Netflix released Cuties, a film that portrays underage children in sexually exploitative ways.
However, many on the left have defended the film, saying it highlights the issue of child sexual exploitation.
Which would amount to torturing animals to highlight the problem of animal abuse.
In the age of mass censorship in Silicon Valley, it is essential that we stay in touch.
