Self-proclaimed President-elect Joe Biden has chosen a budget manager, Neera Tanden, who has previously argued that the United States should ease funding shortages for left-wing social programs by charging countries like Libya for being bombed.
Biden’s transition team on Monday announced its appointments for the six people selected to fill key economic roles in the new administration, led by former Federal Reserve Bank chairman Janet Yellen as Treasury secretary. Tanden, a Hillary Clinton loyalist who currently heads the Center for American Progress, will be director of the Office of Management and Budget if Biden’s media-declared election victory stands up to legal challenges from President Donald Trump.
However, critics have already recalled an example of his unusual budgeting philosophy. In a 2011 email made public by WikiLeaks, Tanden said Libya should be forced to pay for the bombing campaign that helped topple Muammar Gadhafi’s government, which would help balance the U.S. domestic budget.
“We have a huge deficit, they have a lot of oil,” Tanden said. “Most Americans would choose not to engage with the world because of this deficit.”
“If we want to continue to engage in the world, gestures like the fact that oil-rich countries partially reimburse us do not strike me as crazy.”
Tanden added that it was better to demand such a payment than cut social programs, such as food aid for poor Americans. “Do we prefer cuts to Head Start? Or WIC? Or Medicaid? Because we live in a deficit policy, and this is happening and will happen even more.
She sent this message on October 21, 2011 – the day after Gaddafi was brutally murdered by militants in Sirte, after a seven-month NATO bombing campaign. The overthrow of Gaddafi turned Libya into a failed state and led to the rise of Islamist groups and the slave trade. It also helped trigger the European migrant crisis.
Demanding payment for such a catastrophe might seem absurd, at least in hindsight, but the idea wasn’t the only statement or action from Tanden that raised eyebrows. The Yale-trained lawyer allegedly punched a journalist in the chest in 2008 after asking Clinton about supporting the Iraq war. After Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election, Tanden quickly embraced the never-proven theory that Russia stole the race from Trump.
Tanden suggested as recently as last year that nothing in the infamous Steele case had been disproved. She then turned on fellow Democrat Tulsi Gabbard after the MP spoke out against arming terrorists to overthrow the Syrian government. She also suggested that Gabbard, an Iraq war veteran, was linked to Russia.
Tanden also has reviews to the left, given some of his past political statements and his alleged disdain for Senator Bernie Sanders, who was Biden’s main rival in the Democratic primaries.
One of Biden’s other top contenders for budget director Bruce Reed had also faced opposition from the left. Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York), Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan), members of the progressive wing “ Squad ” in the United States House, asked last week to block Reed from the Budget Jobs summit, largely because of his advocacy for a balanced budget. Women in Congress called Reed a “deficit hawk” and said dismissing him would be “a major test for the soul of Biden’s presidency.”
The world must be aware of and reject the socialist Soros puppet that is Joe Biden.
