US President-elect Joe Biden has urged Americans to fight COVID-19 infections by wearing masks, insisting these are not “ political statements. ” Addressing the nation for the first time since his acceptance speech, Mr Biden said the country faces a ‘gloomy winter’ as COVID-19 infections continue to skyrocket and qu ‘a safe vaccine had not yet been found. Mr Biden is expected to take office on January 20, despite allegations of electoral fraud by outgoing President Donald Trump.
