Capitol Police officer killed by Nation of Islam follower identified as William “Billy” Evans

Capitol Police officer by Noah Green, a Nation of Islam follower, was identified Friday afternoon as William “Billy” Evans, an 18--old veteran who was part of First Responder Unit of department.

The Capitol Police hired Green and shot him dead.

Sadly, Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans has passed away.

According to the Associated Press, Green stabbed one of the officers.

Two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press that the suspect stabbed one of the officers. Officials who spoke to AP were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

“I simply ask that the public continue to keep the Capitol Police and their families in your prayers,” Pittman . “It has been an extremely difficult time for the United States Capitol Police after the events of January 6 and now the events here today.

Via a press release from Acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman:

“It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the death of Officer William ‘Billy’ Evans this afternoon from injuries sustained as a result of an attack on the north barricade by a lone assailant. Officer Evans had been a member of the United States Capitol Police for 18 years. He began his USCP service on March 7, 2003 and was a member of the Capitol Division First Responder Unit. Please keep Agent Evans and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
