Capitol policeman injured today at Capitol Hill has died

The United States Capitol is locked after a car crashed into a security fence near the building on Constitution Avenue.

The driver slammed into the barrier on the Senate side and exited the vehicle with a knife.

Capitol Police hired the suspect and shot him.

According to the Associated Press and NBC News, the suspect is dead.

The motive is under investigation and according to USCP chief Yogananda Pittman, the suspect was a lone attacker and did not pose a known threat to any member of Congress.

Two Capitol Hill police were injured in the attack and Fox News reports that one of the has died.

The ministry withholds the name of the deceased pending notification of the next of kin.
