Despite what you may have seen on the cover of New York Post, Chelsea Handler wants you to know her ex-boyfriend 50 Cent isn’t actually voting for Donald Trump.
Last week, the rapper appeared to endorse Trump on Instagram in reaction to a CNBC report that the highest tax rate in California under a Biden administration is 62.6%. “I don’t care, Trump doesn’t like 62% black people, you’re screwed,” he wrote, before adding later on Twitter, “Yeah, I don’t wanna be 20 cents.”
Handler then responded to this tweet with, “You were my favorite ex-boyfriend,” triggering a very public back-and-forth that ultimately resulted in a private conversation offline.
Now, in an appearance Wednesday on View, Handler revealed that she had sent a direct message to 50 Cent earlier this week and that they ended up phoning for about half an hour to talk about it.
“So he called me and he wasn’t serious, he was just messing around on his Twitter,” she said. “He supports Joe Biden. He told me this very clearly and he said I was able to tell you girls and tell any other press that I did that he was supporting Joe Biden.
She also offered to pay her taxes before “finding out that it is illegal to pay someone to vote for your candidate.”
“So I offered him another payment method and we’ll see if he accepts me,” Handler joked. “But I don’t have to pay him, he’s already a Biden supporter.”
“Please tell 50 if he’s going to joke about supporting Trump,” Ana Navarro told Handler later, “he might want to wait until after the election to tweet such jokes because ‘they are not very funny at the moment. “
