Fox News may have joined the rest of the mainstream media in calling out the 2020 presidential run for Joe Biden last weekend, but some members of the network’s on-air team still can’t figure out that Donald Trump lost. Chris Wallace is not one of them.
In a Friday afternoon appearance on Fox, shortly before Trump made his first public appearance since his loss became official, Wallace skillfully dismissed a disturbing view of the state of his colleague’s presidency, reporter John Roberts.
“The president however seems in a way, Chris, to win even as he loses in the current vote count,” said Roberts, acting as if the election was still ongoing. “Because for his die-hard fans, he’s trying to make the case that he didn’t really lose the election, that it was taken away from him.
“Is this an argument he can credibly make?” asked the reporter.
“Well, not in terms of numbers, at least so far,” Wallace replied. “Unless we see something of these lawsuits that we haven’t seen so far, which is serious fraud and fraud of such magnitude that it would nullify the results.”
Wallace went on to explain to Roberts – and all those “diehard Trump’s who might have watched – that Trump” isn’t losing these states, say Pennsylvania, by 500 votes like Florida in 2000, “but is rather late. by 40,000 to 50,000 votes. “So unless we see a fraud of this dimension, I don’t know if he can credibly say that the election was taken from him.
“But that doesn’t mean he won’t continue to make his point,” he continued. “And as we know, Donald Trump got more votes than anyone in history running for president this year… except Joe Biden.
