AAfter declining Democrats missed the 2020 election, Republicans are salivating at the prospect of regaining power in just two years.
Democrats believed concerns about healthcare and COVID-19 would ensure they would increase their advantage in the House. They pretty much ignored President Trump’s wacky claims about overrun suburbs and burnt towns. “Democrats have rolled their eyes at the attacks Republicans have made on their central theme – socialism and the defounding of the police,” Dave Wasserman said with the non-partisan political report Cook. Of course, Democrats were not showing up on these issues, but voters did not take stock of the day-to-day position of politicians and inflammatory rhetoric erupted.
An unanswered attack is a successful attack. Democrats didn’t do much to blunt the finish, and they paid the price. Instead of expanding their majority in the House as they expected, it dropped from 15 to just three seats.
