France’s World Cup winner reportedly quits squad after President Macron slams Islamic terrorism

France’s World Cup winner Paul Pogba has reportedly left the national football team in response to President Emmanuel Macron who criticized Islamic terrorism after the beheading of a teacher in Paris.

Samuel Paty, 47, was beheaded by a jihadist who was incited to commit the act of terror by other Muslims who demanded that Paty be punished for showing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad to his students.

A few days after the incident, France saw large-scale marches involving hundreds of thousands of protesters in favor of free speech.

Paty was then awarded the French Legion of Honor from President Macron, who pledged to step up efforts to fight Islamic terrorism while protecting freedom of expression.

“We will continue, Professor. We will defend the freedom that you have taught so well and we will be secular, we will not give up caricatures, illustrations, even if others back down, ”Macron said.

Footballer Paul Pogba, who plays for Manchester United, has apparently been personally offended by Macron’s comments and has sensationally left the France football team in response.

This is according to Arab sports website, which says Poga quit in disgust, although the player himself and the French Football Federation have yet to give an official response on the matter.

By apparently leaving international football, Pogba makes it clear that he is more offended by Macron’s defense of free speech than by the beheading itself.

Meanwhile, Muslim groups around the world are calling for a boycott of French products in response to Macron’s comments.
