Georgian Secretary of State says he checked the facts on Trump because ‘we can’t play Nice in the sandbox’

MARIETTA, Georgia – Brad Raffensperger has taken on a task few elected Republicans in the past four years have chosen: to check the facts with the President of the United States.

“We can’t play nicely in the sandbox because they just keep twisting the truth,” Raffensperger said in an interview with The Daily Beast on Monday night. “You twist the truth enough and you might as well call it for what it is: lies.

The day before, Georgia’s top election official took to Facebook to issue a series of sharp rebuttals to claims by President Trump and his GOP allies that the election they lost in Georgia was somehow corrupt and that it was the fault of officials like Raffensperger.
