Journalist Glenn Greenwald has been called a “transphobic” for pointing out that although a new Gallup survey shows an increase in the number of Americans identifying as LGBT, almost all of the increase comes from those who identify themselves. as trans or bi, and not as gay or lesbian.
The poll found that one in six people under 23 now think of themselves as something other than heterosexual.
5.6% of Americans now identify as LGBTQ, up from 4.5% in 2017.
Among Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2002, 11.5% say they are bisexual, while 1.8% say they are transgender. Only 1.8% of Gen Xers identify as bisexual while 0.2% identify as transgender.
Greenwald pointed out on Twitter that “almost all of the increase comes from those who identify as bi or trans, not gay or lesbian.”
Among Americans who now claim a “bi” identity, the vast majority of them in long-term relationships are in opposite-sex relationships (33%) rather than same-sex (3.7%).

He went on to point out that “of Americans who now claim a ‘bi’ identity, the vast majority of them in long-term relationships are in opposite-sex relationships (33%) rather than same-sex (3, 7%). So 10 times more people who identify as “bi” live in hetero-apparent relationships than in gay / lesbian relationships. “
The author explained that one explanation for this was that “male girls are now encouraged to identify as trans, resulting in a decrease in the lesbian population.”

The results of the Gallup survey clearly indicate that much of the increase in those who identify as LGBT can be attributed to the media and entertainment industry’s relentless obsession with identity politics.
Obviously, the fact that so many Gen Z versus Gen X individuals identify as bisexual and transgender is because they think it’s culturally cool and makes them unique, not necessarily because that they are in fact one of those things.
