EXCLUSIVE: Joseph Mallozzi, showrunner of Hulu’s science fiction drama Utopia Falls, is supposed to adapt Brian McClellan’s fantasy novels Powder Mage for television.
The writer / producer who has performed multiple shows in the Stargate Universum has teamed up with Canadian production company No Equal Entertainment, making Laura Vandervoort a front Bitten, and Baroness Von Sketch Show Frantic Films producer on the project.
Mallozzi will write the pilot of the hour-long drama to show a series. He’ll start with that Promise of blood Book in McClellan’s Powder Mage Universe.
The drama series will take place in the Nine Nations, a fictional world where magic collides with technology of the 18th century against the backdrop of the political and social revolution. At the center of the story are powder magicians, unique individuals who acquire magical abilities through ordinary gunpowder.

The series is a struggle for survival as mythical gods return to battle over a world that has changed in their absence. It will include epic battles, gross magic, heartbreaking duels, cunning political maneuvers, intrepid investigators, and shocking betrayals.
The Powder Mage The trilogy was first published in 2013 and has sold over 700,000 copies. Mallozzi will co-produce with No Equal’s JB Sugar, Frantic’s Jamie Brown, and McClellan.
