Federal judges in Georgia and Michigan sliced the tentacles of Trump’s notorious “Kraken” lawsuit against Trump’s attorney, Sidney Powell, on Monday morning.
The lawsuits repeat now infamous allegations that the voting machine maker Dominion – encouraged by officials from both parties – conspired with Venezuela, China and Iran to rig the election of President-elect Joe Biden.
But Judge Linda V. Parker, of the Wolverine State Eastern District Court, tore up the former prosecutor’s complaint for only promoting slanderous and unfounded innuendo about the vote count in Detroit and Dearborn, and refused a request to decertify the state’s results.
“The closest plaintiffs claim that electoral machines and software changed the votes of President Trump to Vice President Biden in Wayne County is an amalgam of theories, conjectures and speculations that such changes were possible.” Parker, appointed by former President Barack Obama, wrote in his ruling.
“This lawsuit appears to be less about getting the relief that the plaintiffs seek – because much of that relief is beyond the power of this tribunal – and more about the impact of their claims on people’s faith in the democratic process.” and their confidence in our government.
Hours later, Georgia’s Northern District Court dismissed Powell’s lawsuit against Peach State Republican Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger, along with other GOP officials. . Judge Timothy Batten – whom President George W. Bush appointed in 2006 – expressed astonishment at the courage of Powell’s demand to hand over the state’s 16 electoral votes to lame President Donald Trump.
“In their complaint, the plaintiffs are essentially asking the tribunal for perhaps the most extraordinary relief ever sought in a federal court in connection with an election,” Batten said.
“They want this court to substitute its judgment for that of 2.5 million Georgian voters who voted for Joe Biden, which I don’t want to do.”
Powell did not immediately respond to a request for comment. GOP attorney L. Lin Wood, who served as co-counsel in the Georgia case, reiterated the team’s unsubstantiated allegations of fraud and implied Batten too complicit in the vast conspiracy against Trump.
Trump’s own legal team has, on several occasions, sought to align or distance itself from Powell’s bizarre and baseless allegations of multinational plots against the outgoing Commander-in-Chief. The president himself, meanwhile, refused to concede and asserted the existence of a national electoral fraud scheme even as former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani and his other lawyers racked up losses after loss in court.
