The opposition has called on Boris Johnson to introduce legislation to “eradicate dangerous anti-vax content” as UK regulators prepare to assess Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine candidate.

Labor wants this to include financial and criminal penalties for social media sites that do not suppress anti-vaxxer conspiracy theories.

Hopes are growing that the UK can begin the deployment of the Pfizer and BioNTEch vaccine this year, but there are concerns about the proliferation of baseless conspiracy theories that are scaring people into accepting the vaccine.

A June YouGov poll showed that 33% of Britons would refuse a Covid vaccine if it was available.
