House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Representative Matt Rosendale (R-MT) have called for the ouster of Representative Liz Cheney (R-WI) as Conference Chair House Republican Tuesday night after she spoke out in favor of the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
“There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution,” Cheney said in a statement Tuesday, announcing his support for Trump’s impeachment.
The announcement sparked swift denunciation from House Conservatives such as Rep. Matt Rosendale and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus.
President Donald Trump addresses the nation from the southern border where he reiterated the peace-keeping movement to empower the American people.
“When Representative Cheney ran for impeachment today, she did not consult the Conference, did not follow the spirit of the Republican Conference rules and ignored the preferences of Republican voters,” said Rosendale in a statement Tuesday.
“She weakens our conference at a key time for personal political gain and is unfit to lead. She must step down from the presidency of the conference.
