Immediately after reading Meghan Markle’s brave and brilliant editorial on her miscarriage in the New York Times This week, The Daily Beast reached out to the offices of Prince Charles, Prince William and Queen Elizabeth to try and get a feel for the vibe in their camps.
While Charles and William more or less stuck to the usual ‘no comment’, the response from the Queen’s office was rather unusual. While saying they would not comment, they did, noting that it was a “deeply personal” issue, a phrase which, while not really warm, encouraging or supportive, seemed. at least show a minimum of empathy and compassion for Meghan and Harry.
Empathy and compassion, like anyone who has watched The crown, Peter Morgan’s devastating portrayal of the Windsors on Netflix in recent weeks isn’t exactly the Royal Family’s commercial stock.
