Many Michigan GOP lawmakers are calling for the impeachment of Governor Gretchen Whitmer after she declared another statewide lockdown in response to the coronavirus.
Representative Matt Maddock (R-44th District) responded to new lockdown orders affecting universities, restaurants, bars and other businesses on Sunday, announcing that Whitmer had “crossed the line” and deserved to be removed from office.
In a Facebook post, Maddock also listed various other GOP lawmakers who also rallied around the impeachment call, while also listing a host of Whitmer actions he called “impeachable conduct.”
Myself and the following members: Daire Rendon, Beau LaFave, Ryan Berman, Shane Hernandez, John Reilly, New Lawmakers Ken Borton Steve Carra Patrick Outman, Senators Dan Lauwers Lana Theis and a growing list of lawmakers are calling for hearings immediately impeachment of Governor Whitmer.
Michigan voters know she has committed the following ungodly conduct:
Court orders ignored.
Violated our constitutional rights.
Completely ignored due process and the legislature.
Armed contract tracing databases to aid Democratic campaigns.
Using our children as political pawns and turning away students with special needs who depend on the services offered during in-person lessons.
Caused the needless deaths of thousands of vulnerable elderly people who died alone and scared in nursing homes.
I have listed the first things that come to mind. What did I miss?
State Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey also lambasted Whitmer’s new restrictions in a statement Sunday night, saying she “chose to go it alone” rather than cooperate with Republicans.
Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield (R) said, “The people of Michigan deserve a seat at the table when important decisions like these are made, and those decisions are better and safer when they do.”
Whitmer on Sunday announced a new 3-week lockdown that “would temporarily halt face-to-face teaching at high schools and colleges, catering in high school restaurants and bars and high school sports as well as shutting down some businesses. , including cinemas, bowling alleys and casinos ”, according to the Detroit News.
