Maria Bartiromo may have thought she had a soul mate on her Fox Business show on Monday morning when she spoke of the Trump administration’s latest legal efforts to call off the election. But former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney was not ready to go with her.
At the end of a segment on the COVID-19 relief package, Bartiromo pivoted to ask his guest to comment on his former boss’s plan to ask the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to reject millions of ballots absent. “Mick, what do you think of this costume?” she inquired. “Could this be a potential victory for President Trump?”
“Potentially, of course,” Mulvaney replied in response. “But I think we have to be honest with ourselves Maria. No one has been impressed with the court’s results so far. It appears to be primarily a public relations campaign, not a serious legal investigation. “
While it is “normal” that Trump and his campaign team “will continue to use all the tools at his disposal” to challenge the election he clearly lost, Mulvaney urged the president and his supporters to focus their efforts instead. on the second round in Georgia next month will determine control of the Senate.
“Because if the Democrats take control of the Senate, then there will be no possibility of investigating after January 20,” Mulvaney said, arguing that only then will we “finally find out what happened in the 2020 election. “
“That’s a great point, Mick, I’m glad you did,” replied a slightly deflated Bartiromo before ending the segment.
