Republican losers accused of electoral fraud, too

As Donald Trump refuses to concede the election over unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud, defeated Republicans further in the ballot find his claims a practical way to save face after their own losses.

Republican House candidate Kimberly Klacik has become a star on the right in her bid for the Baltimore area seat once held by the late Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and now by Rep. Kweisi Mfume (D-MD) . Klacik spoke at the Republican convention, got Trump’s approval, and raised a colossal $ 7.4 million, boosted by his viral ad campaign decrying urban issues in Baltimore.

Despite his Trumpworld fame, Klacik has always been a far player for the strongly Democratic district, which the Cook Political Report classifies as D + 26. With over 85% of the ballots counted on Monday, Klacik has more than 100,000 ballots and 43 percentage points behind Mfume.

Klacik quickly conceded the race on election night after the Associated Press called the race for Mfume.

“We did our best,” Klacik tweeted on election night, adding “congratulations” for Mfume.

But with Trump refusing to recognize President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, Klacik changed his mind. Now, like Trump, she claims there is something suspicious about the pro-Democrat mail-in ballots and says her campaign has enough money to “investigate.” Klacik tweeted a tweet from Trump about former President Newt Gingrich (R-GA) claiming that “big city machines are corrupt”.

“I beat my opponent on early voting day and in person, with the absentees,” Klacik tweeted Sunday. “However, 97,000 emails were found in his favor?” Fortunately, we have collected enough money to investigate. “

Klacik did not respond to a request for comment on what his race investigation would look like.

Laura Loomer, a recently defeated far-right activist in the Republican House, also claimed that the presence of mail-in ballots in her own electoral defeat was somewhat suspect.

“We no longer have free and fair elections in America!“

– Laura Loomer

Like Klacik, Loomer has raised millions on his right-wing stardom. But Loomer never had any serious luck, running against Representative Lois Frankel (D-FL) in a heavily Democratic neighborhood that includes Trump’s resort town in Mar-a-Lago. Loomer lost the race to Frankel by 20 points, roughly in line with previous failed challenges to the incumbent Democratic district president.

Loomer, however, never conceded. Instead, she claimed the mail-in ballots in her race were somehow suspicious, without giving details.

“She only ‘beat’ me because of the mail in the ballots,” Loomer, who was banned from Twitter and Facebook, said on social media app Telegram.

Loomer went on to say that there was “a lot of electoral fraud in America right now.”

“We no longer have free and fair elections in America!” she wrote.

Even some Republican candidates who have no doubts about the ultimate results of their races are beginning to claim, without proof, that they were victims of electoral fraud.

Republican candidate Luke Negron, who calls himself “The Young Wolf,” ran in Pennsylvania’s 18th District against Rep. Michael Doyle (D-PA).

Negron lost definitively on election night and is currently nearly 40 percentage points behind Doyle with 88% of the ballots counted.

“Doesn’t look like a W unfortunately!” Negron tweeted to a fan on Wednesday, acknowledging he wouldn’t get a “win”.

As Trump continues to attack the legitimacy of Pennsylvania’s total votes, Negron has begun to question whether he too could have been a victim of electoral malfeasance. Negron began publishing a series of vague claims from anonymous voters who said they were unable to vote for him.

Negron says that even if there had been voter fraud in his race, he thinks Doyle would have won. But at the same time, he continues to promote allegations of electoral fraud and to suggest that votes in the district could have been stolen.

“I did not claim that Representative Doyle’s leadership was solely due to suspected fraud and / or error,” Negron wrote in an email to The Daily Beast. “Sadly, if this is true, it’s much bigger than a single congressional race – it’s about whether our system is broken, specific, fair, or free.”
