Secretary of State Pompeo made two major announcements on Friday when he revealed action would be taken against China and a Venezuelan company.
Pompeo’s first State Department statement is titled “US Imposes New Sanctions on Actors in the People’s Republic of China Linked to Malicious Activity.”
This report explains: “The malicious activities of the Chinese Communist Party at home and abroad harm American interests and undermine the sovereignty of our allies and partners. The United States will use all available countermeasures, including measures to prevent companies and institutions in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from exploiting US products and technology for malicious purposes. Today’s actions mark another sign of our determination. “
The State Department notes that to prevent these entities from undermining “our national security and foreign policy interests,” the Commerce Department will add 59 entities from the PRC to its list of export control entities.
In addition, America will add four entities to its list of entities to provide “high-tech DNA testing or surveillance equipment to the government of the PRC.”
“We urge the Chinese Communist Party to respect the human rights of the Chinese people, including Tibetan Buddhists, Christians, members of Falun Gong, Uyghur Muslims, and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups,” indicates the press release.
The Department of Commerce will add nineteen entities to its entity list.
These nineteen entities will be targeted to “coordinate and systematically commit more than a dozen cases of theft of trade secrets from US companies to advance the PRC’s defense industrial complex; engage in activities that undermine US efforts to combat illicit trafficking in nuclear and other radioactive material; or use US exports to support the PLA and PRC defense industrial base, the ultimate goal of which is to outperform the capabilities of other countries they see as competitors, particularly the United States.
The second of Friday’s major announcements by Pompeo is titled “US Takes Action Against Supporters of Illegitimate Maduro Regime’s Fraudulent Elections.”
The report explains that the United States has imposed sanctions on “the ex-Cle Soluciones Biométricas CA (ex-Cle CA) for its support for the fraudulent legislative elections of the illegitimate Maduro regime on December 6”.
The Treasury Department’s sanctions also target “Guillermo Carlos San Agustin and Marcos Javier Machado Requena for acting for or on behalf of” the company.
The report states: “San Augustin, dual Argentinian and Italian national, is co-director, administrator, majority shareholder and ultimate beneficiary of ex-Cle CA Machado, a Venezuelan national, is a co-director, chairman, and minority shareholder of Ex- CA key “
The company has millions of dollars in contracts with the Maduro regime, which the US government rightly calls “illegitimate.”
According to the statement, Venezuelan society “was aware of and involved in the regime’s efforts to rig the fraudulent December 6 elections, thus undermining democracy and suppressing the voice of the Venezuelan people”.
In a key section of the press release, the State Department of Pompeo tells us, “The Ex-Cle CA also helped the co-opted Maduro National Election Council to purchase thousands of voting machines in China, channeling payments. through the Russian financial system.
“They shipped the voting machines across Iran using rogue airlines Mahan Air and Conviasa, both previously targeted by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control,” the press release continued.
Perhaps related, Acting Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told CBS News on Wednesday that there had been foreign election interference from China, # Iran, and Russia in November this year . “
Will any of these actions by the federal government lead to the truth about interference in the 2020 US presidential election?
