Republican Senator Susan Collins was re-elected in Maine after Democratic challenger Sara Gideon called for concessions on Wednesday.
Collins got a fifth term in the Senate with 51% more than Gideon’s 42%, dealing a devastating blow to Democratic hopes of regaining a majority in the Senate.
“To the people of Maine, thank you, thank you,” Collins said during brief remarks outside a Bangor hotel. “I will serve you with all my heart and work hard for you every day.”
The Democratic Party machine had invested more than $ 100 million in the Maine Senate race to overthrow Collins.
The DNC also failed to defeat Sen. Mitch McConnell in Kentucky and Sen. Lindsey Graham in South Carolina, after spending hundreds of millions to overthrow them in a bid to take over the Senate.
Notably, Collins was just one of two Republican senators to oppose Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court last month, but Collins ultimately voted to confirm it.
President Trump denounces the Democratic fraud that takes place on election night as a handful of Democratic-controlled battlefield states chose to stop counting votes as he progressed.
