“The Future” sci-fi tech drama in progress on HBO Max By Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho – Dateway

EXCLUSIVE: HBO Max has moved on The future, an hour-long science fiction drama based on Dan Frey’s upcoming novel The future is yours, of The Batman Director and bliss Co-creator Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho, Run Co-writer and director Aneesh Chaganty and producers Natalie Qasabian and Sev Ohanian, and Warner Bros. TV, where 6th & Idaho sign a collective deal.

Written by Frey based on his book, The future is the story of two best friends who invent the most revolutionary technological device in modern human history. It’s a science fiction series set in today’s Silicon Valley that explores pressing questions about our relationship with technology. It is told through an innovative multimedia style never seen on television.

Frey Executive is producing with Chaganty, who is also directing. Reeves, Adam Kassan and Daniel Pipski produce alongside Qasabian and Ohanian for 6th & Idaho. 6th and Idaho produced in association with Warner Bros. TV.

The future
marks 6th & Idaho’s second project with HBO Max under the overall contract with WBTV. HBO Max previously announced a series engagement for an original DC drama set in the Gotham City Police Department and in the world Reeves is creating for The Batman Motion pictures.

Chaganty, Qasabian and Ohanian recently collaborated on the acclaimed film Run, which recently broke viewer records for Hulu. The three previously worked together on the breakout independent film hit Search, which debuted at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and grossed more than $ 75 million worldwide on a budget of less than $ 1 million. They are currently in preproduction for a sequel to Search.

6th & Idaho’s recent television productions include aerospace drama series pathstarring Hilary Swank, which aired on Netflix for a season, and the Amazon Prime Video drama Stories from the loopwith Rebecca Hall and Jonathan Pryce.

Reeves is currently at the helm of The Batman Feature film released by Warner Bros. Pictures in 2022.

The first novel by author and screenwriter Frey, The withdrawal, was released by Audible in January 2020. The future is yours is his second book and will be published in hardcover by Del Rey, a reprint from Penguin Random House, on February 9, 2021.
