They voted against the masks. So this doctor from a small town in Coffey County, Kansas quit.

Dr John Shell, from the Kansas countryside, had never given up on anything in his life.

But the 58-year-old small town doctor said he had no choice after his appearance on Nov. 23 via Zoom before the rural Coffey County Council of Commissioners, Kansas.

As the county’s volunteer health official, Shell had decided in July that Coffey would join 80 of Kansas’ 105 counties in stepping down from Governor Laura Kelly’s initial mask tenure as there were so few cases in the region.
