Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) just can’t understand why everyone wants him to step down.
He posted a brave tweet calling for an end to “violence” after a mob he helped incite to besiege the Capitol, and his “awakened” editor again gave in to “cancel the culture” and deleted his beloved book. Now people will no longer stop opposing the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the wake of the bloody riot.
To provide some clarity for the senator, co-hosts Rick Wilson and Molly Jong-Fast spoke to the truth-speaking Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman.
Fetterman, who has faced his own challenges from Republicans refusing to accept the 2020 election result at home, had some choice words for Hawley and his former political ambitions on the final episode of The new abnormal. Plus, New York University professor and Pivot co-host Scott Galloway on how much credit we should give Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey for kicking Donald Trump off their platforms.
“There is blood on your hands, Josh Hawley,” Wilson said. “… You begged and pleaded to be Donald Trump’s favorite by pursuing this fucking lie, which ignited, those crazy conspirators, and they went down there.”
Wilson also calls BS on calls for political unity if there are no resignations first – Hawley in the first place. “All that apology and that false and superficial, ironic and hypocritical call for unity and reconciliation,” he says. “Yeah. OK. Stop first, motherfucker. And then we’ll talk.
Fetterman had a direct and burning message for Hawley and his fellow GOP “objectors”.
“Your partisans kicked you out of your very room. And after all of this trauma, people got shot and people died, you were still so determined to exploit that for your own political advantage. After all of that, you always stood up front and kept telling what you know to be lies, ”says Fetterman. “You know, [Hawley] went to Stanford and Yale Law. He knows better than anyone that this is garbage. And that’s the point. And that’s what makes it so bad. You know, I don’t care about your political beliefs. If you’re ready to damage and endanger your ambition, your soul is in deep shit. I don’t know how to put it another way.
Next, NYU professor Scott Galloway joins in for a Twitter chat, and Facebook takes down the president’s social media accounts.
“There is nothing noble. There is nothing patriotic. There was nothing civic in Zuckerberg or Dorsey to kick these people off their platforms, ”Galloway says.
“They’re the ones trying to tap their lag and obscurity. People who get DUIs typically drove drunk 200 times before killing a family or being arrested. Sensational. And these guys drove drunk and all of a sudden a family got killed. And now they’re sorry… They don’t deserve any fucking credit for doing the right thing down the ninth inning.
