Trump courting donors for new social media platform

Trump is now courting donors for a new social media platform, according to a new report.

The Washington Examiner reported:

Former President Donald Trump has told his friends he has hundreds of millions of dollars in support for a new social media company that will give him an online presence and prevent Tories from being shut down online.

Two sources familiar with the discussions said investors were including figures from Silicon Valley motivated by fear of censorship and the online “cancellation culture”.

Details emerged as Trump entered a new phase of his post-presidency, giving television interviews from his Florida base within a week of acquitting his impeachment from the Senate.

Trump hasn’t joined any alternative social media platform since Big Tech banned him.

In one of his first interviews since leaving office, he also spoke about it.

In that interview, he also said he didn’t want to come back to Twitter.

If Trump ends up going this route, it will really hurt Big Tech.
