It’s hard to pinpoint when Kristen Stewart went from one of the most hated celebrities on the planet to one of the most beloved. For so long, Stewart was that daughter of dusk. Then she was that girl from dusk Who cheated on his beautiful dusk Boyfriend. But eventually it all slipped out, and the real Stewart appeared, the Stewart the Internet fell in love with. This Stewart was brash and unrepentant herself. She has given incredible performances in independent films by foreign directors. She was an establishment-endorsed style icon who apparently never compromised her personal taste for the generic idea of a brand.
Stewart is a case study of growing up in the public eye, becoming exactly what you want to be, and saying ‘fuck yourself’ to anyone who doesn’t like it. And while she still sheds some of the assumptions that have followed her since becoming a teenage phenomenon, she’s also turned into something of the ultimate internet girlfriend – someone who is desirable in every sense of the word.
Before dusk came, Kristen Stewart was a promising child actress. Her career seemed to parallel that of Jodie Foster, her co-star in David Fincher Panic room. But then she got the role of Bella Swan in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s already hugely popular book series. the dusk the films were melodramatic and campy, and taken incredibly seriously by their army of dedicated fans. The fervent devotion was met with intense mockery, much of which was aimed directly at Stewart, who, by the way, was fully aware of the kind of performance she was giving. She recently told Howard Stern that she wanted to do “worship, weird, forgiving.” . . girly role ”.
At the height of dusk mania was a young woman who still understood her voice, who now admits that she suffered from debilitating anxiety. Her visible discomfort with media appearances made her the butt of jokes and list topics like “Kristen Stewart’s 7 Most Awkward ‘Twilight’ Interviews.” But it wasn’t fair dusk That made him a target: It was his high-profile romance with costar Robert Pattinson, which was the subject of the tabloids’ manic fascination. And then his life imploded. She was caught cheating with it Snow White and the Hunter director.
Around 2014 and 2015, something changed. The nervous and uncomfortable person she seemed to be for most dusk saga has been replaced by someone who has full confidence in who she is. She took a defensive posture but no longer seemed to want to close the world. Instead, she started giving interviews that were brutally honest. She said Marie Claire: “Lately, I have done less than [assumes whiny cry voice] “I’m so sorry. And more than [drops several octaves] ‘No. Shit. Jesus. ‘”(This phrase has become such a mantra to me that I once put NFJ charms on a necklace for a friend.)
“Just watch the way she moves to be amazed: The Rolling Stones ” Ride ‘Em On Down’ video sums it up as she dances and drives in a crop top and jeans. He’s our James Dean.“
She has appeared in rented films like Clouds of Sils Maria and won the French equivalent of an Oscar for it. She cut her hair. She swore as much as she wanted. She put the letters ASS on the wall in her basement. At the beginning of 2017, she came out, casually, in a Saturday Night Live monologue, explaining in a direct speech and challenge to President Trump, who was oddly obsessed with her relationship with RPattz, that she was “like so gay, man.” That even SNL She took inspiration from her newfound reputation as an arty queer icon in a sketch of Totino’s pizza buns in which she wakes Vanessa Bayer’s housewife from her life of robotic bondage. As silly as it sounds, the Totino sketch captures Kristen Stewart’s intoxicating rebellious energy so well. It’s easy to imagine her walking into your kitchen, kissing you and opening you up to a whole world of possibilities. And did we mention that she’s really funny? It’s just in his nature to have the ability to turn an eye roll or a spontaneous remark into high level art.
His evolving style seemed to complement that. Now, no matter what Stewart is wearing, she exudes a punk energy. Her neck is still hung with chains. Her hair is cut into a messy shag. Whether she wears heels or sneakers, she seems comfortable in her own skin in a way that is ambitious. Just look at the way she moves to be amazed: The Rolling Stones video “Ride ‘Em On Down” sums it up as she dances and drives in a crop top and jeans. He’s our James Dean.
But what’s refreshing about Kristen Stewart is that while she continually projects an air of cool DGAF, she clearly does GAF in a really, really cool way. When she talks about her acting job and the projects she chooses, she does so in a way brimming with unsupervised passion. She has directed several short films and plans to direct her own feature film about a woman who accepts her bisexuality. And as early as 2009, she was questioning the idea that she had to play the part of someone who was always enthusiastic. “I’m just trying not to say something totally inauthentic about something that I love,” she said in an interview with Stunned. “People have to try to understand that it’s very weird for me to talk to people I don’t know about something that is close to my heart.”
Kristen Stewart never deserved the contempt she had. Even during the dusk years, his commitment and fundamental composure were still there. The rest of the world just had to catch up. These days, it’s exciting to see Stewart being loved exactly for who she is.
